  • February Monthly Scientific Exchange: USP General Chapter <1156>: LG Polymer Microparticle Drug Prod

    Dear all,

Look forward to our panel discussion tomorrow (Feb 26th 12-1pm US EDT) on USP General Chapter <1156>: LG Polymer Microparticle Drug Products — Characterization Methods and Excipient Quality Framework for LG Polymers (PLGs/PLGAs)”

This is likely to be the last AAPS Excipient Community gathering before the community structure change. We’ve invited experts from both the excipient group and chapter group in USP to join this panel discussion. We look forward to seeing you all there and share the interest in applying the LG polymer excipients in pharmaceutical products. Meanwhile, please continue to follow us and welcome to join this seminar to provide any suggestions on strengthening the collaboration and scientific exchange among the excipient experts after the structure change.

  • Excipient Community Monthly Scientific Open Discussion: AI-Enabled Efficiency in Oral Dosage Form De

    Dear all,

    image

Prof. Allen Christine from University of Toronto (also a CEO and Co-founder of Intrepid Labs Inc.) will give a webinar "AI-Enabled Efficiency in Oral Dosage Form Development".
Abstract: Formulation design for oral dosage forms is still dominated by empirical search over narrow design spaces, which too often yields “the best of what we tried” rather than what is truly optimal. We present an AI-enabled workflow that shifts the objective toward “the best of what is possible.” Instead of relying on heterogeneous literature, whose limited scope and inconsistent measurements constrain model fidelity, we use AI to structure relevant data, learn performance-driving relationships, and guide exploration of broader, more meaningful design spaces. These AI-driven workflows surface higher-performing formulations earlier, focus experimental effort where it matters, reduce API and material use, and provide transparent decision support for CMC teams.
Don’t miss one of the final two Excipient Community Monthly Scientific Open Discussion seminars before AAPS transitions to its new community structure. This is a unique opportunity to connect with long-time colleagues and fellow excipient enthusiasts. Let’s celebrate our shared passion and exchange ideas one more time—see you there!

  • Update on Colorants with Dave Schoneker

We’ve seen a shift in how food and pharma approved colors are viewed in recent years. Alongside updated regulatory guidance, there’s also been an increase in misinformation, making it harder to separate facts from assumptions.

We are excited to share that Dave Schoneker, who has followed this topic during his 48 year career, will be presenting a 'recap and update on the current landscape and how we got here' at our September meeting. His talk will be followed by an open Q&A.
