FREE AAPS Webinar on Measuring Drug Concentration in the Skin In Vivo: Techniques and Challenges

The AAPS Topical and Transdermal Community is launching a free monthly webinar series open to all (not just AAPS members). This series covers different aspects of topical dermatological drug development, from the fundamentals of dosage forms and dosage form selection, through in vitro, in silico, and in vivo evaluation, scale-up and manufacturing, commercialization and regulatory considerations.

Webinar # 2: Measuring Drug Concentration in the Skin In Vivo: Techniques and Challenges

This webinar will provide an overview of the technical challenges and innovations associated with measuring drug concentrations within the skin. Prof. Guy will review some of the latest scientific advances and research outcomes for different in vivo techniques to monitor cutaneous pharmacokinetics, including skin stripping, spectroscopic imaging, and microdialysis/dOFM approaches to asses cutaneous drug concentrations. Among the strengths and challenges discussed will be issues related to data reproducibility, technical and instrumentation limitations, study designs and controls, and the present utility of these (semi) quantitative tools to compare the bioavailability or bioequivalence of topical formulations.
