Validation of commercial total protein assays

  • 1.  Validation of commercial total protein assays

    AAPS Bioanalytical community,

    I was hoping to get an informal survey of what (if any) internal validation people are doing for commercial total protein assay kits used in the analysis of nonclinical/clinical solid tissue samples and some info on your context of use:

    1. Are you doing any internal validation of commercial total protein measurement kits (BCA etc.) or just following the vendor manual?  If you are doing your own validation, how does the scope of that work compare to your normal PK/PD validation?            
    2. Are your total protein measurements used only to ensure consistent input through tissue sample processing/analysis, or are you directly using total protein to normalize the measurements of your target of interest?
