This past May I had the pleasure of attending the AAPS National Biotechnology Conference which was centered around new modalities for treating disease. The conference started with an Opening Plenary from Hari Pujar wherein he discussed how innovation drives the biotech industry. There were a wealth of interesting talks and poster sessions to attend, I will include a couple highlights here. In a hot topics session on particles, Miguel Saggu presented exciting data from his recent paper regarding assessment of visible particles by visual inspection wherein there was a "round-robin" study of several vials of particles across industry. Another particularly interesting talk was presented in the symposium centered on drug delivery for new modalities was presented by Xiuling Lu on methods to deliver nanoparticles through the cytosol utilizing lipid chemistry. Overall, it was a very engaging and informative conference to attend!
