WIPS will host a webinar featuring Anca Ciobanu, Lead Project Manager of the
Pistoia Alliance. She will be discussing
Diversity and Inclusion in STEM: A Leadership Initiative
As an industry, STEM has a diversity issue, and this can only be addressed by raising awareness and developing leadership and mentoring skills within life sciences companies. To build more inclusive companies in the life sciences industry, The Pistoia Alliance initiated the Women in STEM pilot program and has since applied the lessons learned to move on to develop a wider Diversity and Inclusion in STEM Leadership program. The goal of this program is to develop leadership and mentoring skills in diverse leaders at life science companies, enabling them to support, initiate, and/or lead diversity efforts at their respective organizations. In this session our guest speaker will present how different life science companies joined forces through the non-competitional platform fostered by the not for profit organization Pistoia Alliance in order to help accelerate the diversity efforts at the industry level.
About the speaker:
Anca Ciobanu, D&I Program Manager
Anca has more than 10 years of international management experience creating and leading cross-functional teams across the pharmaceutical and medical device industries working with large corporates and SMEs. She has led the introduction of new products and services across 140 markets. In her current role as a Consultant at the Pistoia Alliance, she is the Strategic Theme Lead for Improving the Efficiency and Effectiveness of R&D. Her role includes leading communities of interest in life science and healthcare R&D for more than 150 member companies, including the Pistoia Alliance's Lab of the Future community. She also leads the Pistoia Alliance's new D&I in STEM leadership program and is responsible for developing other non-competitive cross-industry initiatives where members of the Pistoia Alliance can collaborate to solve common challenges together.
