If you are engaged in any kind of emulsion formulation design or optimization activities, then please make a point to visit Connor Bilchak's (Global Technical Marketing, BASF Pharma Solutions) poster about Smart Formulating of Pharmaceutical Emulsions Using HLD-NAC Theory at 11:30 am on Tuesday at PharmSci 360 AAPS 2024, Salt Lake City. (T1130-09-53). The poster will provide a summary overview of how Hydrophilic-Lipophilic Difference (HLD) and Net Average Curvature (NAC) theory utilizes measurable oil chemical attributes, surfactant type and molecular structure, salinity and temperature to predict emulsion type (O/W or W/O) and physical stability, much more accurately than other predictive schemes like HLB. It is quite novel in the pharma space and BASF Pharma Solutions is embracing this methodology to assist formulators in faster formulation development or for solving stability problems more quickly and efficiently rather than by trial and error.  Hope to see you there.
