Understanding interface-induced protein particle formation in mAb/surfactant solutions subjected to mechanical stresses
Please join us for a presentation/discussion with Professor Prajnaparamita Dhar on Wednesday, March 29, from 12:00-1:00 pm EST.
Prajnaparamita (Prajna) Dhar is a Professor in the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering, University of Kansas. Her research interests include applying biophysical tools to understand lipid-protein, protein-protein and nanoparticle/lipid interactions at interfaces. Prajna has also been interested in the challenges associated with large scale bioprocessing and storage of protein therapeutics, specifically, understanding the fundamental rules that govern protein particle formation in biotherapeutic formulations at interfaces, as well as developing robust mitigation strategies to prevent protein particle formation, a major challenge in large scale bioprocessing. As the COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated, fast and efficient bioprocessing is ultimately essential for large scale production, distribution, and storage of protein-based therapeutics. Prajna has recently also been working on developing and implementing inclusive practices in engineering education, with a particular focus on implementing educational psychology constructs that support an inclusive teaching and research environment.
