Microsampling in toxicology studies – Maximising the scientific, business, and 3Rs advantages
In 2021 the NC3Rs microsampling expert working group conducted a cross-sector survey to understand the current use of microsampling in toxicology studies across the pharmaceutical, agrochemical, CRO, and academic sectors, with the aim of identifying the specific studies in which microsampling was employed and the barriers to wider uptake. This OSD will discuss these results and the opportunities to further reduce and refine animal use across all sectors by wider adoption of microsampling for molecule types outside of small molecules and for more GLP studies.
