Dear AAPS friends,
I want to share some very sad news. Marie Rock Ph.D., a LBA pioneer and former AAPS colleague, passed away recently. She was a lovely lady who was passionate about LBA science and highly committed to education and mentoring of junior scientists. She was a valued member of our original NBC LBA Training Course. Marie had boundless energy and was always willing to pitch in to support the AAPS Ligand Binding Assay Bioanalytical Focus Group and the BIOTEC Section.
Below are a few pictures of Marie and her Lab Group from the June 2013 AAPS BIOTEC Section Newsletter (Bill Nowatzke, Ph.D. - Section Chair). It seems only fitting that Marie was recognized as the recipient for the Distinguished Service Award in this same Newsletter issue along with Jean Lee, Ph.D., who was entering retirement and being recognized for her AAPS contributions. Both Marie and Jean will be missed by a lot people; we are grateful for their contributions to elevating LBA science in contemporary Regulated Bioanalysis.

With sadness and much admiration,
Ron Bowsher, Ph.D. FAAPS
