The Dissolution Research Presentation International – United States (DRPI-US) event aims to foster innovation and excellence in dissolution research in the United States and is sponsored by Society for Pharmaceutical Dissolution Science (SPDS), in association with the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS). The finals for the DRPI-US competition will take place on Thursday September 7, 2023, starting at 1pm (ET).  The event will last 2 hr and is open to the public.  Join at:

From prior abstract and video recording rounds, six "Category 2" scientists (i.e. individuals pursuing Ph.D., Post Doctoral Trainees, and Industry Professionals; see https://drpi.spds.world/us/) have been selected to present live at DRPI-US finals:

Shumaiya Ferdoush (Purdue University): Semi-mechanistic reduced order model of pharmaceutical tablet dissolution for design, optimization, and control of manufacturing processes

Angela Hu (Bristol Myers Squibb): Assessment of 250-mL Volume Vessels for Use in Biorelevant Dissolution

Akshay Narula (University of Connecticut): Exploring the mechanisms behind increased absorption in rapidly dissolving amorphous solid dispersions

Sushesh Srivatsa Palakurthi (Texas A&M University): Development and Validation of Microdialysis-Based Discriminatory and Biorelevant In vitro Release Testing Instrument for Complex Ophthalmic Products

Angela Ren (University of Texas): A mechanistic understanding of drug release mechanisms from long-acting ethylene vinyl acetate implants

Niloufar Salehi (Eli Lilly & Company): Comparative evaluation of dissolution performance in USP 2 setup and alternative stirrers and vessel designs: A systematic computational investigation

Each will present for 10 min (max), followed by Q&A.  Evaluation criteria described at https://drpi.spds.world/us/. There will be First, Second, and Third place prizes. The First Place presentation will be invited to participate in the DRPI World finals event (online), which will be held September 23 and 24, 2023.

    See you on September 7th!
