The Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) is an important regulation aimed at enhancing the security of the pharmaceutical supply chain in the US.
DSCSA mandates the implementation of an interoperable electronic system to trace prescription drugs from manufacturers to dispensers.
It involves, manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, pharmacies, hospitals, dispensers, etc.
Each trading partner has to connected with the downstream trading partner, so product traceability can maintained and ultimately safety of the patient.
To make connection with downstream trading partner is a first challenge and later to transmit the traceability data seamlessly is ongoing challenge.
