The term "nanoparticle" is broadly used in literature for solid-lipid nanoparticles, nanostructured lipid carriers, nanoemulsions, micelles, liposomes, niosomes, etc. Broadly these can be generalized as nanoparticles, micelles, nanoemulsions (a branched-out term from microemulsions), and nanovesicles. Lipids, surfactants, and polymers are integral parts of these systems.
