    Hello GHC

At our recent community meeting, we discussed an idea to organize "global health" themed events scheduled around important World Health Organization days in the calendar. The events may be formal webinars or more informal 'journal-club' events. A short-list of the WHO days we may target are below:

    • World Malaria Day (25 April 2023)
    • World Hepatitis Day (28 July 2023)
    • World AIDS Day (1 December 2023)
    • Rare Diseases Day (28 February 2024)

We need your engagement to make this work, so please respond to two requests:

    1. Do you have research or practical experience that fits any of these 4 topics?
    2. Are there other disease awareness dates not on this list that you think may be interesting to the AAPS audience?

Please respond to myself and Sudip Das via the portal or direct email ([email protected])

    Thank you

    Kieran

This is the paper I was thinking for world malaria day. There was significant discussion at WHO about how this real-world data from the CARAMAL study impacted the final recommendation of rectal artesunate that was quite different from what would have been recommended based on the clinical trials. It brings together the biology with other global health factors in a way that was new to me.
