It is with deep sadness, I would like to inform the bioanalytical community on the passing of Dr. Jean W. Lee. She passed away peacefully in her home on 28 September 2025. She left behind a loving husband (Mr. Kit) who had taken care of her to the end, a daughter, a son and 3 grandchildren. With immense gratitude that we remember Dr. Jean W. Lee, a visionary in bioanalytical science and a cherished member of the AAPS community. Her passing is a profound loss-but her legacy is indelible.

Dr. Lee was a trailblazer in ligand binding assays, pharmacokinetics of biologics, and biomarker strategy. Her work helped shape the scientific and regulatory frameworks we rely on today. As an AAPS Fellow, former Chair of the Ligand Binding Assay Focus Group, and founding contributor to Biotech 101, she was instrumental in advancing both the science and the scientists behind it.

For many of us, Dr. Lee was more than a colleague, she was a mentor, a role model, a friend, and a quiet force of encouragement who always displayed a "can do" attitude.

Her legacy lives on in every validated assay, every harmonized protocol, and every scientist she mentored. She believed in lifting others as she climbed, and the AAPS community is stronger because of her.

Today it's commonplace for teams of individuals to collaborate within AAPS to create white papers to advance bioanalytical science in support of drug development. We believe this highly successful collaboration model is a direct result of Jean's soft leadership skills for bringing diverse collaborators together to achieve a common goal dating back to the early 2000s.

We extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and all who were touched by her brilliance and generosity.

    With respect and fond remembrance,
Ronald Bowsher, Theingi Thway, and Binodh DeSilva
