Volunteer To Lead An AAPS Community!

Submit your application by July 31, 2024, 5pm ET.

One of the most critical volunteer positions in AAPS is chair of an AAPS Community Chair. Members depend on these leaders to drive professional interactions, networking, and educational growth in their community.

AAPS Community Chairs are able to expand their networks and polish their leadership skills while helping to develop scientific programming for the members of their community.

To become an AAPS Community Chair, members must volunteer for a three-year term. Appointees serve as the Community Vice Chair in the first year, Chair in the second year, and Immediate Past Chair in the final year.

To qualify for consideration, you must:
    • Be a member of AAPS at the time of application and throughout service
    • Have 3-5 hours per month to serve, including:
    • Leading the community’s monthly leadership meeting
    • Attending the monthly AAPS Community Forum
    • Developing programming for the community
    • Have experience posting in the AAPS Communities
    • Have read the AAPS Community Chairs Guide (PDF)
    AAPS prefers applicants that have:
    • Experience chairing a committee
    • Past volunteer experience in AAPS programming, such as developing a symposium, presenting a poster, submitting an article to AAPS Newsmagazine, leading an Ask the Experts session, etc.
    • A mature network in the scientific community
    • 5+ years in their scientific profession
    • Topical knowledge related to the community’s scope
Applicants will be notified about their application status at the end of September 2024.
